Elections will be fought on corruption free Chandigarh, developmental issues of people and villages: Jarnail Singh
Chandigarh, September 2
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has started preparations for the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation elections. In this regard, the AAP Chandigarh in-charge and Delhi MLA Jarnail Singh held a marathon meeting with leaders and workers at the party headquarters here. The meeting was also attended by AAP Chandigarh co-incharge Pradeep Chhabra, president Prem Garg and election campaign committee chairman Chander Mukhi Sharma.
In a statement issued here on Thursday, Jarnail Singh said the Aam Aadmi Party is contesting all the seats in Chandigarh Municipal Corporation. Therefore, the party leadership has consulted with the ward level leaders and devised a strategy to strengthen the party creatively at the booth level. He said the ward-level problems were also documented during the meeting. Jarnail Singh further said that the elections of the municipal corporation would be fought on corruption free Chandigarh, on the basis of issues of the people and villages with resolving their problems and on the issue of restoring the beauty of City Beautiful.
Pradeep Chhabra said that the country’s ‘City Beautiful Chandigarh’ has become an awful city due to corruption and hooliganism. He said the parties in control of the Municipal Corporation had not taken Chandigarh forward with the progress of the times; but had plunged it into the realm of familism.
Prem Garg said that despite the inclusion of Chandigarh villages in the municipal corporation, good facilities did not reach the villages. He said the new wards formed by incorporating the villages into the corporation lack public services, adequate supply of drinking water and construction of roads.
Chander Mukhi Sharma said the Aam Aadmi Party would inform the people of Chandigarh about the Kejriwal model in Delhi and provide facilities in Chandigarh on the lines of Delhi. Youth leaders Dinesh Daler, Vikram Pundir and others were also present on the occasion.
