Chandigarh, August 25: All nine demands of ‘Khet Mazdoor Jathebandian da Sanjha Morcha’ to be addressed sympathetically for the welfare of the landless agricultural labor and deprived sections of the society.
While presiding over the three-hour-long meeting held at Punjab Bhawan, Chandigarh with the Khet Mazdoor Jathebandian da Sanjha Morcha, Local Government Minister, Mr. Brahm Mohindra, reiterated the concern of the Chief Minister, Punjab, about the welfare of the labor class and assured the representatives that all their demands would be addressed on priority basis after discussion with him (Chief Minister). The meeting was attended by Additional Chief Secretary Labour, Mr. V. K. Janjua, Chairman-cum-Managing Director, PSPCL, Mr. A. Venu Prasad, Principal Secretary Finance, Mr. K.A.P. Sinha, Secretary Food & Civil Supply, Mr. Rahul Tewari, Registrar Cooperative Societies, Mr. Vikas Garg, and Director, Rural Development & Panchayat, Mr. Manpreet Singh Chhatwal.
Speaking on the issue of three anti-farmer Agricultural laws, Mr. Brahm Mohindra clarified that resolution regarding the rejection of agricultural Laws unanimously passed by the Vidhan Sabha is held up with the concerned authorities for onward transmission to the Centre and the Punjab Government vehemently opposed the same and firmly stand by the farmer community.
Detailed discussions were held regarding the hassle-free distribution of ration cards, apprehensions of the Morcha to the Labour Codes, waiver of loans advanced by micro-finance companies and coercive measures adopted by them, restoration of electricity connections as well as correction in the exorbitant electricity bills, effective implementation of MGNREGA scheme, revision of old age pension and allotment of residential plots out of Panchayati land to the landless SC/ST and other poor sections of the society.
On the direction of the Local Government Minister, a meeting of the Sanjha Morcha was also fixed for 7th September 2021 at Vikas Bhawan, Mohali for sorting out the allotment of 5 marla residential plots and other related issues of the landless laborers.
Mr. Mohindra further directed all the concerned Department Heads to address the issues raised in the meeting in a time-bound manner. The representatives of the Sanjha Morcha expressed their satisfaction over the appreciation of their concerns by the Government in the right spirit.
