CHANDIGARH, NOVEMBER 26:
On the occasion of World Environment Day, Punjab Forest Minister Sadhu Singh Dharmsot said that reiterated the resolve of Punjab Government to make state’s environment clean, green and pollution free.
The Minister pointed out that the state government was making all out efforts to provide a clean & pollution free environment to the people of the state. He said that since taking reins in March 2017, Captain Amarinder led Punjab Government had ensured the saplings of more than 1.5 crore plants under various campaigns.
The Minister mentioned that on the occasion of the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Sahib 550 saplings were planted in every village of the state which amounted to about 76.25 lakh. In addition, about 52 lakh saplings are being planted to mark the 400th birth anniversary of Shri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib. Mr. Dharmsot said that the government has not only laid emphasis on the planting of saplings but had also made elaborate arrangements for the maintenance of these saplings so that these saplings could grow smoothly thus keeping the state’s environment green.
The Forest Minister said that special focus was being given to expedite the plantation of saplings in the state. He said that during the Ghar-Ghar Haryali’ and ‘i-Haryali’ campaigns the people of the state and various social service organizations have made invaluable contributions in keeping the environment of the state clean.
