Chandigarh, September 7:
Under a special drive to check the sale of illegal lotteries/Parchi/Darha-Satta, a special team of the Punjab State Lotteries department on Tuesday conducted a surprise raid in Ludhiana. During the raid, different lottery stalls were checked by the team.
The team also sensitized the lottery sellers that indulging in the selling of illegal lotteries/parchi/darha-Satta is a crime and if anyone is found indulged in these activities, strict legal action will be taken against them and a criminal case under the various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Lotteries Act will also be filed.
An official spokesperson of the department said that the department will continue to conduct such kinds of surprise raids in the future also to ensure the sale of genuine and authentic lotteries.
